McKinney Campground Allatoona Lake Georgia

McKinney Overview

McKinney is a well-maintained campground with 150 single-family campsites and is located next to Allatoona Lake.  All sites have water and electric (50-amp) hookups. Most sites are reservable, but some are first-come, first-serve.

Campsites are large and can accommodate tents, trailers and RVs. Several sites are water-front, offering beautiful views of the lake Each site also has a table, fire ring and grate. Check in is 2pm and check out is 12pm. You can also have up to 2 vehicles and 8 people per site.

Campground amenities include drinking water, flush toilets, showers, a dump station, picnic area/playground and boat ramp. Firewood is also for sale from the camp host. Cell service is good in the area.

McKinney – Area Recreation

Outdoor recreation includes boating, canoeing, kayaking, fishing, water sports, fishing, hunting, hiking, biking, picnicking and wildlife viewing. The city of Acworth and Woodstock are also nearby, offering restaurants, shopping, and historic downtown areas.  The Visitor Center at Allatoona Lake Project Management Office features video exhibits and displays about the area’s history, ranging from the time of early Native Americans, to the Civil War and to present times.

You may also like Old Highway 41 No 3 Campground, Vogel State Park or Lake Winfield Scott Recreation Area.

    McKinney is an extremely popular metro Atlanta campground. It is one of eight Army Corps of Engineers campgrounds on Allatoona Lake. As of August 19, 2020 is is closed for renovation. The mail gate is located at 6659 McKinney Camp Ground Rd SE, Acworth, GA 30102

    Beautiful campground. They did a great job with spacing between most sites. Lots of trees, we never used our awning! We were at #123. Back-in lake view.
