  1. Paul Demick is the most incredible campground that i know of! Its in a redwood forest with old and new growth and has access to a beautiful clear river; some campsites overlook the river. I spent the night there once in a rainstorm and my cat and i were the only ones there.

This Must be what heaven looks like!!

  2. PS Last time i was there it was closed down; no camping and access road closed. Has it reopened???

    • Hi Arlene,

Paul M. Dimmick campground is still closed (as of the State Park’s latest announcement on November 1, 2017). We will try and contact them to get an updated status.

  3. William Watson says:

I spent my childhood camping here and have gone many times as an adult. I have never found a more beautiful place to camp. I’m always a little disappointed camping elsewhere. Exploring the redwoods, swimming in the Navarro, day trips to the coast, climbing the broken trees, pretending they were castles. There was a hollow log we used to run through and other fallen logs we used as bridges, most still exist 35+ years later. I haven’t been in probably ten years but my last visit was as magical as my first. The campgrounds are clean and quiet, everyone seems to respect other campers and I’ve never experienced any loud or rude campers here. I hope this place stays the way it’s remembered in my mind. I will always cherish my times there. I’ve moved out of California but if and when I go back to visit, I’ll be sure to at least spend a day here. The drive from Ukiah is fun and once you hit the redwoods, it’s absolutely gorgeous.

  4. Jennifer Carl says:

I too have great memories as a child camping at Dimmick. Unfortunately my kids have only gone a couple of times until the genorator was stolen twice. So sad some people don’t care and take away from the larger picture. It’s not just a genorator, it’s future memories.

  5. This park is definitely magical! I’ve camped there every summer as a kid and took my kids up until it closed. We still go to Hendy and stop by there to walk the river and climb some stumps. I can’t wait for it to reopen so that or family tradition can keep going!

  6. It’s open!

  7. I spent my childhood years camping at Dimmick and have nothing but great memories! As William said above, there was a big hollow log that we would all sit in and one of the fathers that would be with our group, would sit in there with us and tell ghost stories. I know he is still alive because i saw him at a swim meet about 6 years ago, and told him I remembered that! It was so quiet and the water was so close. I have never been back since we moved from the Bay area, but what an awesome campground!

  8. Gregg L McKee says:

With the CV-19 and ongoing restrictins, is the campground still open for overnight camping? It is a beautiful place! Hope it is available.

    • Hi Gregg,
Unfortunately, Paul M. Dimmick campground in Navarro River Redwoods State Park remains closed. The Beach Campground is open on a first-come first-serve basis.

  9. is the campground open?

    • Hi Kalen,

      Day use areas.
      Trails.
Camping is now available on a first come-first serve basis at Navarro Beach Campground.
Paul Dimmick Campground will open on a first-come, first-serve basis Friday, May 28, 2021.

      Closed:
      Museum / Visitor Center

  10. I spent many summers camping at Paul M. Dimmick campground in the 60’s and early 70’s. We would come for two weeks during Labor Day. The weather is the best that time of year. It’s good to see that it’s reopened as we drove by yesterday on our way to Mendocino. There is so much to do there when your a child. So much to explore not to mention it’s just gorgeous! I will have to stop and walk through the campground on our way home. I have memories that I will never forget. Love this place!!!😁❤️

  11. Barbara Shelton says:
