Ocean City State Park – Area Recreation

Ocean City State Park is a year-round, 170-acre camping park, featuring ocean beach, dunes and dense thickets of shore pine. During most of the seasons you can drive your vehicle right on to the beach to enjoy a nice little picnic. Park also backs up to the North Bay Natural Preserve and just down the road you’ll find some shopping and dining opportunities, as well as an 18-hole golf course in Ocean Shores.

Outdoor activities include beach combing, clamming, birding, wildlife viewing, hiking, biking, surf fishing, swimming and diving.

You may also like Pacific Beach State Park. It’s located about 15 miles to the north. Schafer State Park is another option if you’re heading east toward Olympia.

  1. Joodie Klinke says:

We stayed here in February 2015 in our 24′ Chinook Destiny. This is a popular park for razor clamming (not for us) and there were a fair number of campers there for that reason this time of year, but folks were pretty spread out and quiet. There is only one short trail in the park with a small deck to overlook a pond, a few benches, and some botanical identification signs. We couldn’t complete the loop due to wintery trail sogginess. Almost all activity here takes place on the beach, for us that was walking and running. Several short trails connect the campground to the beach. The winter sand is hard-packed and easy to maneuver on. Notable wildlife was bald eagles, sand pipers, and a river otter! The sunsets are gorgeous — dress for the very chilly wind this time of year. A 1.5 mile walk south takes you to the town of Ocean Shores, a popular tourist town with all the amenities.

  2. Linda Regan says:

Been there a while ago, beautiful park

  3. Julie Mc says:

What a joke. Our campsite (96) was mostly underwater. The campground was a ghost town, but they wouldn’t let us move. We ended up parking our truck in the neighboring site, to keep our gene running. We spent one night, and then packed up and left. What a shitty mini vacation.
