Cold Brook Campground has 12 spacious campsites and is located at the north end of crystal clear Cold Brook Lake. It is also just 1 mile north of Hot Springs, South Dakota.

Campsites can accommodate tents, trailers and RVs. Each site also has a parking spur (ranging in size from 28 to 36 feet), table, fire ring and grill. The campground is generally open mid-May to mid-September. Amenities include drinking water, vault toilets and trash collection. There’s also a horseshoe pit, playground, boat ramp, boat dock, boat trailer lot and firewood you can purchase from the camp host. Cell service is good in the area.

Area Recreation & Activities

Outdoor recreation in the area includes canoeing, kayaking, paddle-boarding, fishing, hiking, biking, archery, picnicking and wildlife viewing. A swim area is also available. The use of gas motors on the lake is strictly prohibited. Archery hunting is permitted in designated areas only and both hunting and fishing regulations are established and enforced by the State of South Dakota.

At the north end of the campground sits a wildlife area with a two-track trail that is good for a morning stroll or a short bike ride with the possibility of seeing wildlife.

Other campgrounds in the area include Cottonwood Springs, Elk Mountain (Wind Cave National Park). Comanche Park and Bismarck Lake are also within a 45-minute drive.
